Lost Time (challenge): A Wealth of Time, by Himring

Author: Himring
Source / Fandom: Silmarillion
Rating: General
Warnings: Canonical character deaths alluded to.
Characters: Fingon (Maedhros/Fingon).
Disclaimer: Tolkien's characters, but the pairing is Himring's and so is the assumption of their eventual re-embodiment.

The cautious ones who measure time in table spoons tsk-ed, observing how we, with more time on our hands than we knew well how to deal with, wagered and lost it—and our hands with it.

It is true, in our first age we overset the hourglass. How those precious grains spilled, spilled…!

Those who saw me waiting stubbornly for your return pitied me—wasteful of time again. But I counted a thousand yeni waiting for you well spent.

And now, even if the world should end tomorrow, you are here, here! For me that is time and world enough.
