Author Notes: It had been a long journey.
He was tired. The journey had been a long, arduous one, and the Dwarves' songs had quickly worn on his very last nerve only to find another nerve he'd not realized he'd had and wear it to its end too. He was beyond fatigued, but the songs of the birds promised that the end was just around the corner. Soon he could let these beings go and retreat to being on his own in solace once more. It seemed almost too good to be true until the forest broke open and Gandalf spied the distant peaks. He could rest soon.
