After last month's appeal for new co-mods on the site both here and on LiveJournal, I'm delighted to welcome both [personal profile] zdenka and [personal profile] hhimring ! Thank you both for coming on board and for helping our small but lovely little community to carry on in two fandom spaces.

I do live a somewhat chaotic life at the moment, so challenges might still be somewhat erratic, but I intend to find the time to get to grips with how to schedule future posts, which might be helpful in this regard.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for challenges, please pop them in comments here! I've screened this post so any suggestions received will be a nice surpise when they pop up. We do have a list of past challenges, if you'd like to check that.

So please, do some thinking an pop up as many suggestions as you like and I'll start making a list. I adore lists!

And once again, many thanks to [personal profile] liadt  for all their hard work!

Due to the current uncertainty regarding the future of LJ, I have successfully managed to back this community up to Dreamwidth. I discovered last night that a Dreamwidth comm does exist and it was backed up to 2017, when moderation/ownership of this comm was transferred to myself and [livejournal.com profile] liadtbunny, but the Dreamwith comm was not transferred at the same time.

I contacted the owner [livejournal.com profile] mrkinch there and they responded immediately and passed admin of the comm to be and I was successfully able to import the comm entries and all the comments.

I'm happy to crosspost challenges there as well, and while LJ continues to exist, I will also to regular back ups and housekeeping. If you would like to find the comm on there and subscribe etc, it's https://tolkien100.dreamwidth.org/ . I am on DW under the same username.

My own intentions are to remain on LJ while it continues to exist. Not all Russians support Putin in this hideous war and LJ has long been an important tool for Russian bloggers and a connection for them to the outside world. For that reason, I'm happy to remain. I appreciate that this is a deeply personal decision for everyone and respect everyone's choices and their reasons.

If you need some inspiration over the holiday period there's the prompt masterlist which now has three years worth of prompts or if you prefer to read all drabbles now have tags to make searching easier.

I am pleased to announced all posts on [livejournal.com profile] tolkien100 have been tagged right back to the beginning of the comm in 2004!

The tags used to tag drabbles are by author, character(s), work(s) and challenge (if used). The most popular work by a long margin is ‘The Lord of the Rings (all media types) with 228 drabbles and in second is ‘The Silmarillion’ with 81 drabbles. The most popular characters are Boromir, Faramir, Sam and Frodo. There are too many challenges in the number one spot to list.

With the holidays coming up, traditionally a time when people try to fit in some writing, there is now a masterlist of all this year's prompts for inspiration.

Don't forget drabbles that weren't inspired by prompts are also welcome:)

We hope you like our new look! [livejournal.com profile] liadtbunny has made a lovely banner for the comm, and we've got our first two challenges up and running!

The comm's new style now supports tags, and we have set some up for recent posts and started the work of back-tagging past entries. Members can use any of the visible tags, and we'll set you up with a shiny new author tag when you post if yours isn't there yet. Likewise we'll happily add any new tags a post needs.

Please do pimp the comm far and wide! We're very much up and running now, and all drabbles are welcome, whether for the challenges or anything that takes your fancy as long as it's related to Tolkien and his works!

Come in, play, have fun!

There is now a Tolkien100 collection for AO3 users to post their drabbles to, if they so wish. Drabbles old and new are welcome!

Happy New Year to all our members!

Starting today, [livejournal.com profile] liadtbunny and I will be posting fortnightly challenge prompts to the comm in the hope of inspiring more Tolkien-related drabbles in 2018.

You are welcome to post for any challenge at any time, and of course you can post any non-challenge drabbles whenever you want, too, and cross-posting is very welcome.

A new challenge will be posted fortnightly on a Monday, and we will probably do turn about each month as to which one of us does the posting.

If you have any queries or suggestions, do let us know! And please do feel free to contribute any prompts that you would like to see us use.

Our definition of drabble here is simple. 100 words. There's a sample header in the user info.

So please, roll up, play, have fun!

Hello, my name is [livejournal.com profile] fredbassett, and following [livejournal.com profile] mrkinch's recent post about their intention to leave LJ, myself and [livejournal.com profile] liadtbunny expressed interest in keeping the community open, and so the site has been transferred to us as co-mods and we'd like to gauge what interest there is in keeping the site active.

We'd certainly like to keep the site alive so far as past posts are concerned and would be delighted to see more drabbles being posted here! Cross-posting is actively encouraged. We would also be very happy to provide drabble prompts/challenges with whatever frequency members would like to see. This could be weekly, fortnightly, monthly, whatever you like! Prompts/challenges could be themed, random, utterly bonkers, again, we'll be guided by you folks. If we get no response, we might just experiment for the hell of it!

To start the ball rolling, how about using the comments on this thread as a sort of introductions posts to saw who we are, how we got interested in Tolkien, do we read, write or both? What we would like to see from this community? Anything about youreslf you'd like to share? It would even act as a friending meme, if you like.

So come on, folks, pop in and say hello! It would be lovely to know if anyone is still out there! I'll start the ball rolling by saying something about myself...
