Author: <lj user=periantari>
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Characters/Pairing: Faramir
Rating: PG
Word count: 100
Warnings: none
Challenge: 'Promising"
Disclaimer: I wish these characters were mine, but alas, they are Tolkien's. I just think of them day and night.
It was futile to retake Osgiliath. Faramir would join Boromir and mother sooner if he fell defending the country he loved. He was weary of days of uncertainty and loss.
Retaking Osgiliath seemed the only thing he could do to earn his father’s respect. But did he even care? He wished for our places to be exchanged.
The horse’s gallop inched him closer to the orcs that swarmed like beetles towards them. Death seemed more promising than a way to force the Enemy’s hand for surrender. Isn’t it better to have death?
It would be better to die with honor.

Date: 2023-05-07 10:14 am (UTC)Oh ouch, that is so painful! Denethor remembered far too late how much he loved his son.
You have a siny new author tag, by the way! Sorry I was late with this. You are very welcome amongst us!

Date: 2023-05-07 12:20 pm (UTC)Wow thanks ! I did use to drabble in tolkien_weekly. Glad this comm is still active !
I think in his own way the reason denethor wanted to burn Faramir along with him is because he wanted to be spared from probably torture or worse from enemy. It’ll be interesting to explore that . Denethor did care at end .
