Good ol’ rest was what he desired most when he returned to the Shire. But then, the Shire had to recover from the ruffians’ damage, and Sam led the clean up.

It was when Frodo reminded him to take it easy, that he began to do so during Yuletide.

“Make sure to rest, dear Sam. We have gone there and back again,” Frodo said.

Sam looked out into the snow from the warmth of the fireplace, warming his feet as he sipped his tea. He was safe and secure, no longer in fear. He dozed off, only pleasant dreams abound.
