Author Notes:  Written for the 'Mistakes' challenge.  A drunk from Esgaroth makes an unfortunate error.

 

Laketown Romeo

 

Marten eyed the elf-maid drunkenly.  She was tall and slender, the prettiest elf-maid he’d ever seen – not that he’d seen many, admittedly.  And her hair –  long, blonde, silky, it shone like – like sunlight, he thought, in a sudden burst of poetry.

 

Seizing his chance, Marten scurried over to the elf-maid, laying his hand on her arm. “ ’Ello, gorgeous,” he murmured winningly.

 

His hand was held in a vice-like grip.  “Remove your hand, ere I remove it for you!” snapped a cold voice.  Startled, Marten looked up – into a beautiful, undeniably male face.

 

“Your pardon, sir – ‘twas an honest mistake!”

When you're as beautiful as he is, I suppose you get fed up with being propositioned by drunks! Especially when the chat-up line is "Hello gorgeous"!

BTW, do you know how I can remove the previous post I did by mistake? I can't seem to edit it.

To remove the previous post: Between the line that has beside your icon "Jay of Lasgalen wrote in tolkien weekly" and the title of the entry, is a row of four little pictures on a blue bar. One is a pencil. Click on that, and you should be able to edit, and therefore delete, the entry.

(I hope I explained that well.)

Poor Legolas! I bet he got that reaction from men many times over the centuries. Oo-ee! What a mistake for that man to make. I'm still grinning. I liked this, Jay. You do humor very well. :)

Thanks! I rarely attempt humour - I prefer angst - but this was fun to write. Personally, I like the man's chat-up line. Poor Legolas - no wonder he was touchy!
