I'm not a frequent drabbler, so my efforts in the community will most likely be confined to praising the work of others. But here's one of my thankfully rare efforts... I hope it's OK to post something I posted a while back in my LJ - if not, please to let me know

Eowyn eases herself free of Faramir’s embrace, careful not to wake him. She knows that unbroken sleep is a precious gift for one so often racked by nightmares.

Because she loves him, she will never tell him of her own dreams. In her sleep, the steady beat of rain in Ithilien becomes the thunder of hooves across the grasslands of Rohan. She is a hawk, soaring above the white mountains, unbound by the golden chains of love and duty.

She cradles the slight swell of her belly and remembers that once she was spear-straight and battle sang in her blood.
