You know me, I'm a nice friendly type. Off topic posting isn't my thing. Usually.

I've been a little busy lately, so you lot may have noticed my lack of posting drabbles. What I didn't expect was to wander into lotr100 and find that it's no longer there. Would anyone care to shed some light to aid their prodigal sister?

Most of my 'memories' posts were on the community, and now it's gone.

Well done on setting up the new community though guys. I promise to get back to the drabbling asap.

Not exactly sure what happend to lotr100. It wasn't there a couple of days ago. And the so-called "moderator" apparently deleted her own personal LJ accout. I learned one lesson: I'll never post directly to a comm anymore, because all those rambling discussions you and I had are now gone. From now on, I'll just link to my journal so I don't lose comments.

The new comm is interesting, but I really liked the discipline of the challenges. If I was blocked, doing a drabble that wasn't my own idea could usually jump start my own writing.

Think I'll be posting on my own lj and linking to comms in the future, too. All of my posts - and comment conversations - are gone forever, it seems. Wonder what happened to the mod.

I liked the set challenges too - they made me write things I might not have otherwise written. We'll see how the challenge system works on this new community, though.

When aesc and I started tolkien100 we assumed that lotr100 would be there for challenges because goodness knows I need them, too. We have a place for them here, in comments to a special post, but it's not the same. Anybody want to begin another comm?

Like you, I'm in the dark on why the other comm was deleted (this is a normal state of affairs for me, though) :/ Raederle's comment above, that lotr100's moderator deleted her personal LJ, was news to me, as well. And, like you, when I signed on again after a couple days MIA, the comm. was no longer... there.

tolkien100, like M said, is open to challenges, but we didn't really set it up for actual challenges because we thought--and hoped--that lotr100 would be there for those. It's early days yet, though; maybe lotr100's mod will undelete her account? Or if anyone knows her, is there any way to switch the comm. to someone else's account (assuming someone interested in moderating could be found)? Like everyone, I enjoyed the challenges; when inspiration's running thin, a lot of times those can get me going.

I might be talked into it, but I'd need a co-mod - I just don't have the time to run it alone.

It's a real shame that lotr100 has gone. Even if it became inactive it would have been nice for it still to be there for the sake of all our old posts.

I hope she does return and undelete the comm, but I fear it's unlikely. Hopefully fileg's email to the admin staff will get results.

As I said elsewhere, if a new challenges comm is required I might take it on, but I'd wwant at least one co-mod - I just don't have time to run a comm alone right now. You may have noticed that I hadn't been posting lately - just too busy with work.

Okay, folks, I've taken the bait. shebit, you're on the hook as co-mod, until I hear otherwise: the new comm is tolkien_weekly. I've described it in the user info as a companion comm to tolkien100 and specified the differences--tolkien_weekly will have challenges with set dates to close them, tolkien100 presumptively won't have deadlines, and will accept drabbles that aren't connected to challenges. Hope this will be okay with the management here in tolkien100.

This worm is a-squerming. Guess I asked for it, really - damn me and my volunteering - I'm worse than Faramir - "What's that? You need someone to lead a suicide charge on Osgilliath? Where do I sign up?"

I'm very busy at the mo - real world deadlines are unfortunately scarier than the fic-writing variety. I'm happy to try to provide stimulating weekly challenges on the new comm, though. I actually had an idea only today for a set of themed challenges - a set of 7 challenges.

When I have time I'd also be happy to make the community look shiny - that might not be 'til december though. Check out apavanente to see another Tolkien comm which I made quite pretty.
