The boy stands on the riverbank, his hands tightly clenched by his sides. His lower lip trembles as the water tumbles past, deep and dark and consuming. Tethered to a small pier is a boat, empty forever. Arms wrap around his shoulders; Frodo buries his head in his Aunt's neck.
On top of a cold mountain, Manwë, the King of Arda, speaks to his spouse. "We shall send him a treasure, above all else in this world." Elbereth smiles, and sets about kindling a star like no other.
Far away, in a small smial on Bagshot Row, a baby cries.
