Author: Himring
Title: Over Budget
Fandom: Lord of the Rings
Rating: G
Characters: Narvi, Celebrimbor (also references to Durin and dwarf OC)
Disclaimer: Narvi, Celebrimbor and the Doors of Moria are all Tolkien's; it was Himring who introduced the budget issues.
Spoilers: for the Doors of Moria, I suppose.
Summary: So many projects go a bit over budget! Maybe this also happened with a certain project involving Doors?

Narvi found Celebrimbor in the Twenty-first Hall.

‘The King is in a good mood! Now would be the right moment to talk to him about the Doors.’

Celebrimbor hesitated.

‘Are you sure? With all these people about?’

He had just spotted Nár, secretary of the Treasury.

‘Pour the iron when it’s molten, strike it while it’s hot; don’t wait until it’s not’ quoted Narvi and gave him a shove in the right direction.

And thus Celebrimbor found himself explaining to Durin that they would need more mithril for the ithildin than originally planned. Just a little more. Maybe a third…

Author notes: For the tolkienshortfanworks prompts "melting" and "proverb".

Very clever! This made me grin, and I like the idea that not everything that comes down to us as 'perfect' actually started off that way.

LOL, I love it!! I would love to have seen the look on Durin's face. Bloody builders! useless at sticking to estimates.
