Note- I was musing with a friend and this character almost immediately came to mind. :)

Disclaimer: I wish these characters were mine, but alas, they are Tolkien's. I just think of every spare moment.

“How did Sam rescue you, Frodo at the Tower of Cirith Ungol?” asked Merry.

“I never knew Sam to be so brave. It was so important that he went to Mordor with you,” said Pippin.

“Sam also made sure I drank and ate since the Ring was bearing down on me,” said Frodo quietly.

“It was just my duty,” said Sam with a blush. “Mr. Frodo has had the hardest time after all.”

“He genuinely is the real hero,” said Frodo, looking at Sam with respect and love. “Sam has grown so much. Frodo couldn’t have done it without Sam.”
