Author's Notes:  Written in response to a challenge: 'Imagine your favourite character tempted by the one ring.'

 

 

Temptation

 

I can hear the Ring’s seductive whisper on the edge of my thoughts.  I know its evil lure; have seen it at work in the company.  To banish its malice, I think of my home; the trees green and growing.  Yet blight and shadow mar the woodland now – my  father fights valiantly; using his power and strength to defeat this darkness, but ‘tis not enough. 

 

Why is it that he is the only Elven ruler without a ring of power?  It would be so easy: together we could sweep all evil from this world.  I have only to take it.

Oooh, shivery!

Very rarely does anyone write about Legolas being tempted by the ring! Very nice, yes, he would think about how his father had to battle the evil on his own, especially after having seen Rivendell and Lothlorien.

Thanks. I couldn't see Legolas being tempted by anything much else, really. Given the opportunity and power to cleanse the forest, who's to say he wouldn't be tempted?

He wouldn't be swayed by glory or power, but preserving his home? I think that would be his weakness.
