"Recall Some Pity…"
So this was how it all would end. The Noldor, willful conquerors that they were, had been soundly beaten. Now the people of Middle-earth had summoned those who remained in Valinor.
My people… my beautiful people… my beautiful, innocent, faithful people…
The Vanyar, yet unsullied by the fire of war, prepared their white banners. Harps were laid aside; shields were taken up. Now they would bleed for the kin that had scorned them, for a future that was not theirs, for a conflict that did not touch them.
They ask you to die for them, thought Ingwë sadly.
Do it.
~
Title taken from Fingon's plea to Manwë: 'O King to whom all birds are dear, speed now this feathered shaft, and recall some pity for the Noldor in their need!'
