'llo! I was led to this site from [livejournal.com profile] tolkien_weekly. I was browsing the list of challenges there, and decided to do a drabble for the 'Mistakes' challenge. Posted here as that challenge was set last year.
Until today I had never written a drabble before, so feedback will be very much appreciated. This has been cut down from a piece I did for a fanfiction writers' workshop at this year's Fellowship Festival - many thanks to Anke Collier for the inspiration.

Title: I didn't mean to, honest.
Author: [livejournal.com profile] victory_raven
Characters/Pairing: Sam and Rosie
Rating: G - I think. Please correct if I'm wrong. :)
Warnings: None really, unless you don't like the idea that Sam could be unfaithful to Rosie while he was away with the Fellowship.
Book/Source: Set after the War of the Ring. Written with the book in mind, but with Sean Astin's interpretation of Sam's voice. If that makes sense.
Disclaimer: Samwise Gamgee and Rosie Cotton are most definitely not mine. I do claim tentative ownership to the unnamed elf, as I may decide to expand this drabble into a complete fic one day.

‘It’s just I was away so long, I missed you, but- you see the Elves have always fascinated me like, and in Lorien, well, there was one, a lady, she had eyes like stars and the sun in her hair... We was only kissing Rosie, that’s all. It meant nothing. Well, not nothing, just-... She reminded me of you, I kept wishing I was back in the Shire, walking the woods with you. You’ll forgive me? On the slopes of Mount Doom, with all the fire, all I could think of was you, so, Rosie Cotton, will you marry me?’

That's funny. I think Sam needs to work on his proposal a bit.

Nyaaa! I recognise! That's creepy, I found my short stories a couple of days ago, when my mum was about to throw them away. I kind of wanted to put my Frodo waking up in Rivendell one up, but it's too random and I'm sure no-one would find it funny, so that idea went out of the window. :P

One thing to say about the end: Sam seems to pick up speed with his thoughts- I think he should still blunder a bit more. ^_~ Otherwise it's a good Sam drabble.

Not bad. And quite humorous. You should work on your syntax a bit, though. Punctuation can make or break a story. It really changes the meaning in places. Otherwise, this is not bad. And, much better than my first drabble. Practice makes perfect.
